- The Structural Engineer is responsible for executing delegated responsibilities within a project team to the effect of assisting the Senior or Lead Structural Equipment Engineer in ensuring that all design and drafting output for the Discipline is carried out on schedule, within budget, based on sound Structural engineering practice, design codes and standards, and to the complete satisfaction of the Client
- He reports functionally to the Head of Discipline and operationally to the Lead Discipline Engineer
- Executing Structural Engineering design for onshore / offshore structural requirements as instructed by Lead Electrical Engineers or Project Engineers / Managers.
This entails:
- Preparation of basic design and detailed design of the structural part of the project. Specific design procedures for the Structural Design Checking practice are as defined in GE A347-01
- Preparation of conceptual designs (Structural sketches and preliminary sizing & weights) as per the Lead Engineer's conceptualization of the project.
- Assists the Lead Engineer in the preparation of design basis, detailed specifications, calculation methods, derivation of concept, subcontract packages, option studies, as instructed by the Lead Engineer
- Preparation of Material Requisitions and Material Specifications,
- Preparation of Detailed Drawings and Final MTO's in collaboration with the Senior Designer checking of drawings, calculation reports and B.O.Qs. including standardization of deliverables to Quality Systems
- Overseeing the proper production of Structural Calculation Reports, Main Structural Sizing and Weight Control Reports
- Review of Vendor drawings and documents
- Review of drawings from other Disciplines. All design review procedures are as per GWP
