SCADA / Telecommunications Engineer – ESB International
ESB International's mission is to unlock value for energy utilities and developers right around the globe. We work in partnership with asset owners to deliver large-scale, capital intensive projects, using a proprietary project delivery methodology to minimize project risk and maximize invertor returns.
Our Specialties:
• Utility to Utility Solutions, Renewable Energy, Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Audits and Feasibility Studies
• High Voltage Projects manage the design phase of electricity networks projects. Our project engineers produce the electrical design, and coordinate the inputs from other discipline designers in the overall project design

This role is based in ESB International’s Dublin Offices but will involve travel in Ireland and Overseas. Overseas assignments may also be a feature of this employment.
Scope:
ESBI’s Protection, Automation, Control and Telecommunications PACT business provides engineering and consultancy services to the electricity utility industry. The successful applicant will have experience of working in consultancy, contracting and supplier or within an energy utility. The candidate will work within a team structure, taking a lead or support role on the project in which they are involved as needed. The successful candidate will report to the PACT Manager.

The Role:
Candidates must have a good working knowledge of one or more of the following subjects:
• Substation automation control systems / wind farm control systems;
• Transmission and Distribution Network automation and ‘smart grid’ technologies;
• Utility SCADA systems;
• Control Centre, Energy Management, Distribution Management and Outage Management software applications;
• Utility telecommunications, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101, 103 & 104 protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provision of consultancy services to clients in Ireland and overseas;
• Carrying out planning and feasibility studies, delivering conceptual designs and cost-benefit analysis;
• Production of bidding documents, technical specifications, evaluation of bids/proposals, contractor management;
• Project management and project delivery activities.
The Candidate:
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills:
• Ability to work on own initiative and manage time efficiently;
• Ability to work to deadlines;
• Organised and adaptable with a flexible approach to work;
• Analytical skills and ability to deliver solutions
• Communications and presentation skills.
Qualifications/Experience:
• Honours Degree in a relevant engineering discipline is essential;
• At least five years post graduate experience in the technology areas;
• Strong communication, report writing and presentation skills;
• Ability to communicate with both internal and external clients up to senior management level;
• Fluent English;
• Full, clean driving license.
