We are seeking a dynamic, empathetic, and strategically minded leader to head the operations of Falkensteiner Family Hotel Diadora, our flagship five-star family hotel in Punta Skala, Croatia. As General Manager, you will be fully responsible for the hotel’s strategic direction, operational excellence, team leadership, and the creation of unforgettable family holiday experiences.

This role requires a hands-on, inspirational hospitality professional with strong experience in luxury family hotels and resorts, who understands the emotional drivers of family travel and can balance operational efficiency with warmth, creativity, and authenticity. The General Manager will play a key role in positioning Diadora as one of the leading luxury family resorts in the Mediterranean, delivering sustainable growth, outstanding guest satisfaction, and strong financial performance.

The ideal candidate is a visible leader and culture-builder, capable of motivating large, diverse teams, nurturing talent, and ensuring that both children and parents feel genuinely cared for. Strong communication with investors, owners, and stakeholders is essential, as is a deep understanding of resort dynamics and family-oriented service concepts.

General Manager (m/f) - Falkensteiner Family Hotel Diadora

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership & Inspirational Management
    • Act as a present, hands-on General Manager, setting high standards across all departments.
    • Inspire, mentor, and develop department heads and teams with a strong focus on family hospitality and service excellence.
    • Foster a positive, energetic, and inclusive working environment aligned with Falkensteiner’s family values.
    • Lead strategic planning and long-term positioning of Falkensteiner Family Hotel Diadora as a top-tier family resort in the Adriatic and Mediterranean markets.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Oversee all daily hotel operations, ensuring smooth, efficient, and child-safe processes across departments.
    • Maintain close involvement in key operational areas: Rooms, F&B, Kids & Youth Entertainment, Guest Services, Wellness, Sports & Activities, and Events.
    • Ensure seamless coordination between family-specific services (kids clubs, childcare, family programs) and classic luxury resort operations.
    • Implement best practices while ensuring compliance with Falkensteiner brand standards and local requirements.
  • Guest Services & Experience Innovation
    • Continuously elevate the end-to-end family guest journey, from pre-arrival to post-departure.
    • Develop and enhance innovative family programs, kids’ concepts, and intergenerational experiences.
    • Ensure professional handling of guest feedback and complaints, with special sensitivity to families and children.
    • Live and actively promote Falkensteiner’s “Welcome Home” philosophy, with a strong emotional connection to guests.
  • Financial & Business Management
    • Full responsibility for P&L performance, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
    • Optimize revenue streams through pricing strategies, yield management, upselling, and family-oriented packages.
    • Drive cost control while maintaining high service and safety standards.
    • Identify new revenue opportunities linked to family experiences, activities, and seasonal programs.
  • Investor Relations & Communication
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, owners, and key stakeholders.
    • Prepare and deliver clear, professional presentations on performance, strategy, and development initiatives.
    • Communicate transparently and confidently to ensure trust, alignment, and long-term cooperation.
  • Staff Recruitment, Training & Development
    • Lead the recruitment of high-quality staff with a passion for family hospitality.
    • Develop and oversee structured training programs, especially for kids-focused teams and family-facing roles.
    • Promote a culture of engagement, accountability, recognition, and continuous improvement.
    • Ensure high employee satisfaction, motivation, and retention in a seasonal resort environment.
  • Compliance, Risk & Asset Management
    • Ensure full compliance with legal, regulatory, health, safety, and child protection standards.
    • Implement effective risk management, crisis response, and emergency procedures, particularly relevant to families and children.
    • Oversee maintenance, asset management, and long-term value protection of the property.
    • Monitor staffing structures, inventory control, and internal processes.
  • Market & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Actively represent the hotel within the local community and with regional partners.
    • Maintain strong relationships with local authorities, tourism boards, and business partners.
    • Benchmark against leading international family resorts and continuously adapt to market trends.
    • Support sales, marketing, and product development initiatives in close cooperation with Falkensteiner regional teams.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience as a General Manager or senior operational leader in luxury family hotels or resort environments.
  • Strong background in international hotel chains, ideally with family-focused brands or concepts
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex resort operations with high guest volumes
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Solid financial expertise: P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, and investor reporting.
  • Passion for family hospitality and creating meaningful experiences for children and parents alike.
  • Charismatic, motivating leadership style with a strong sense of accountability.
  • Fluent in English; Croatian, German, or another European language is an advantage.
  • High resilience, flexibility, and adaptability in a dynamic resort setting.
  • Resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in managing Mediterranean or coastal family resorts.
  • Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of family tourism trends, kids’ entertainment concepts, and safety standards.
  • Understanding of regional tourism markets and local regulations
