We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to guide the operations of our five-star property, Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Iadera in Punta Skala, Croatia. As the General Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the hotel's strategy, operations, team development, and guest experience. This role requires a unique balance of business acumen, luxury hospitality expertise, and strong leadership skills.

We are searching for an internationally experienced, hands-on leader with a passion for hospitality, a charismatic presence, and excellent communication abilities. The General Manager will be responsible for positioning Iadera as one of the premier luxury wellness and leisure destinations on the Adriatic coast, ensuring sustainable growth, operational excellence, and outstanding guest satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will be an inspirational and motivational leader who fosters a culture of continuous improvement in guest services and experiences while maintaining strong investor relations through clear communication, regular updates, and strategic presentations. In addition, he/she will play a key role in building and developing a high-performing team through strategic recruitment, talent development, and training programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership & Inspirational Management
    • Act as a visible, hands-on operational role model, setting high standards across all departments.
    • Inspire, mentor, and motivate department heads and staff to deliver excellent guest satisfaction.
    • Create a results-driven, guest-focused environment that is dynamic, positive, and high-performing.
    • Drive strategic planning and long-term positioning of Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Iadera as one of the leading hotels in the Adriatic.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Oversee daily operations ensuring consistent quality, efficiency, and guest satisfaction.
    • Maintain close involvement in key operational areas (Rooms, F&B, Guest Services, Wellness, Events).
    • Continuously implement best practices and operational improvements to streamline processes.
    • Ensure compliance with company standards while adapting to local specifics.
  • Guest Services & Experience Innovation
    • Elevate and continuously improve the guest experience across all touchpoints.
    • Introduce innovative services, programs, and experiences to differentiate from competitors.
    • Lead a guest-centric approach, proactively manage feedback, and ensure professional complaint handling.
    • Live and champion our "Welcome Home" philosophy across all properties.
  • Financial & Business Management
    • Full responsibility for P&L, budget planning, forecasts, and financial reporting.
    • Collaborate with Resort General Manager and leadership team to optimize revenue (yield management, pricing strategies, upselling) and control costs.
    • Identify new revenue opportunities and drive cost-efficiency initiatives.
  • Investor Relations & Communication
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with investors and key stakeholders.
    • Prepare and deliver professional presentations on business performance, strategies, and growth opportunities.
    • Communicate with confidence and transparency to ensure trust and alignment.
  • Staff Recruitment, Training & Development
    • Lead the recruitment and onboarding of high-quality staff, aligned with the resort's luxury standards.
    • Develop and oversee comprehensive staff training programs, fostering continuous learning and professional growth.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, innovation, and recognition.
    • Inspire teams to perform at their best, driving employee satisfaction, motivation, and retention.
  • Compliance, Risk & Asset Management
    • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, safety, and fire protection standards.
    • Implement effective risk management, crisis response, and health & safety protocols.
    • Supervise property maintenance and asset management to protect long-term value.
    • Monitor internal processes, staffing plans, inventory, and administrative controls.
  • Market & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build and strengthen relationships with local authorities, business partners, and community stakeholders.
    • Benchmark against regional and international competitors to ensure a leading market position.
    • Support sales, marketing, and product development initiatives in cooperation with regional offices.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience as a General Manager in luxury resorts or multi-property management.
  • International background in leading global luxury Hotel Chains.
  • Strong track record of operational excellence with the ability to inspire diverse teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Expertise in financial management: P&L oversight, budgeting, forecasting, investor reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance guest services and develop unique experiences.
  • Charismatic, motivational leadership style with a focus on accountability and performance.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Croatian, German, or another European language is an advantage.
  • Resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in managing coastal or Mediterranean luxury resorts.
  • Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of Mediterranean tourism markets and local regulations.
