ESB International has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader to join our team in the mobilisation of a new modern Power Plant based at Marsaxlokk, Malta.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to join the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Team as Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader.

Role Description:
The Mechanical Maintenance Team leader will be responsible for the planning, control and supervision of mechanical maintenance of the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine CCGT generating plant while maintaining the highest safety standards, practices and leadership.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Duties will include, but are not be limited to, the following:
• Scheduling, planning and optimising all mechanical maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner;
• Be a leading participant in the planning, organising and implementation of annual overhauls;
• Carry out authorised roles under the safety rules;
• Direct and supervise the mechanical function, assess training needs and manage individual performance plans;
• Comply with corporate and statutory safety and environmental obligations;
• Development and implement appropriate maintenance procedures, systems and guidelines;
• Development and management of applicable maintenance contracts including the management of contractors;
• Train and develop staff;
• Carry out the role in management of safety, environment and quality as identified in the relevant ISO systems and processes;
• Liaise with other departments as required or directed;
• Project management as required;
• General driving duties as required.

Znanja i kvalifikacije:
Knowledge, Skills & Work Experience:
• Team Leaders will be educated to:
o Preferably a Bachelor’s degree level (MQF Level 6); or
o A recognised mechanical craft qualification (MQF Level 5) with additional mechanical certificate(s) and/or diploma(s);
• Extensive power plant or process industry experience in the mechanical engineering discipline with a minimum of three (3) years’ recent experience in the role of Mechanical Team Leader or Supervisor and a proven ability to organise and prioritise work;
• A good command of written and spoken English is essential;
• Flexibility is a feature of the maintenance team between the Electrical, Control & Instrumentation and Mechanical crafts;
• Experience in the operation or maintenance of thermal and/or CCGT power plant would be desirable;
• Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of power station mechanical plant, CCGT and/or thermal, such as Gas and Steam Turbines, rotational balance of plant equipment and steam raising pressure systems is desirable;
• Experience in liaising with relevant statutory bodies and contractors;
• Experience in project management and/or good planning skills;
• Good ICT skills would be required;
• In possession of a valid driving licence.

Relationship:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager.

Working Arrangements:
The Power Plant Maintenance Team will be engaged on day duty basis on an average of forty (40) hours per week.

Training & Continuing Professional Development:
As it is a new build power plant a significant amount of training will be provided in the early stage of plant set-up. Whilst most training will be carried out at site or locally, there may be a requirement to attend some training at the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM’s) workshops or training centres where appropriate.
