Electrical Engineering Opportunities with ESB International

Our Specialties at ESB International:
• Utility to Utility Solutions, Renewable Energy, Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Audits and Feasibility Studies
• High Voltage Projects manage the design phase of electricity networks projects. Our project engineers produce the electrical design, and coordinate the inputs from other discipline designers in the overall project design

We currently have opportunities for Electrical Engineers to join our High Voltage and Generation Engineering Departments. We work on domestic projects throughout Ireland and on international projects overseas. This role is based in ESB International’s Dublin Offices but will involve travel in Ireland and Overseas. Overseas assignments may also be a feature of this employment.

Key Responsibilities may include the following:
• Electrical calculations and studies, specification writing for procurement and refurbishment of power plant or transmission electrical equipment.
• Technical evaluation of contractor’s bids, including design review of contractor’s proposals.
• Monitoring environmental, health and safety, and QA compliance on site or at supplier manufacturing plants.
• Manage electrical projects from inception, specification, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover to client.
• Ensuring full co-ordination of all aspects of the project – civil, electrical, lines, cables, control system, telecoms etc. to target timelines and to highest quality standards.
• Production of physical substation layouts with strong understanding of electrical clearances, design considerations and construction methods.
The Candidate:
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following skills:
• Self motivated and able to project manage own work and coordinate those working with them.
• Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure.
• Proven track record of delivery of projects on time and to the highest technical standards.
• Interested in developing a technical career path.
• Demonstrate the ability to make quality decisions and judgments.
• Have a logical, yet imaginative approach to problem solving.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility is important in all aspects of the role, including travel nationally and internationally.
• Strong report writing capability.
• Proficient computer skills.
Qualifications/Experience:
• Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering is essential
• Minimum engineering experience of 3 years.
• Fluent in English.
• Full Drivers license and access to a car is essential.
In addition, successful candidates will possess some of the following experience:
• Detailed knowledge & experience of safety principles in design
• Detailed knowledge and experience of working with High Voltage technology or Generators, Transformers, Switchgear, Synchronising Equipment, IPBs, diesel generators, DC Systems and UPS systems
• Experience in conceptual design and analysis, detailed electrical wiring design, physical layouts, control &instrumentation
