Interested candidates can apply for an internship with the British Embassy
The British Embassy Zagreb is inviting applications for an internship.
The Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is offering qualified applicants an opportunity to experience the work and culture of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). The FCO has earned the “Investors in People“ accreditation as a top employer.
The internship offers supervised practical experience and educational opportunities for the successful applicant, who will make an active contribution to the work of the Embassy.
The internship is available for at least three months with immediate effect. Ideally the selected intern will be able to work for a brief period before the Christmas 2012 holidays and into 2013. UK or Croatian university graduates or under-graduates may apply. English language skills must be excellent.

Qualifications
Interns should be high calibre UK or Croatian under-graduates or recent graduates with an interest in building up career experience in a field related to the Embassy's activities.
Job Description
An intern will be allocated to Political or UKTI (Commercial) section based on the needs of the section and the skills
and interests of the intern. The intern's line manager will agree a job description and objectives with the intern. It is expected that the intern will carry out 'real' work.
Close supervision of their work will be required particularly where this is part of a finished product.
Payments
Interns will not receive a salary for the internship,nor any other form of fee or allowance.
The intern will be insured for the duration of theinternship. Interns are expected to make their own arrangements for accommodation and
travel and meet any other costs of their internship.
Hours
Normal office hours are from 08:30 to 17:00 from Monday to Thursday and from 08:30 to 14:00 on Friday.
Security
Candidates will undergo standard criminal record checks (i.e. a certificate from the authorities confirming that they have no criminal record and that they are not under investigation for any crimes) and will require a security briefing on arrival.
Terms and Conditions
The intern will be issued with the agreement for his/hers internship stating the terms and conditions.
End of Internship
At the end of the internship intern will be asked to write a report on their experience. Report should address topics including: a description of the practical assignment(s) and accomplishments of the intern during internship period and knowledge gained.
A letter recording the completion of the internship will be provided by the Embassy to the intern.
Termination
The internship may be terminated at any point by the Embassy without notice or compensation.
