ATCO Frontec Europe Ltd. is currently looking for a Firefighter to work at our Kandahar Afghanistan Project.

General Accountability:
Under the supervision of the Platoon Chief/Deputy Platoon Chief, each firefighter conducts daily platoon duties.
Structure:
The firefighter reports to Platoon Chief/Deputy Platoon Chief and has no direct reports.
Dimensions:
The firefighter participates in fire fighting operations, rescue operations, fire prevention programs, and fire fighting training activities. The firefighter shall be able to carry out the following duties:
• prepare reports concerning the fire services,
• participate in fire inspections, and
• test and maintain fixed and portable fire extinguishing systems, water distribution systems, and all other equipment related to the fire services.
Specific Accountabilities:
• drives and operates fire fighting apparatus and utility vehicles;
• takes action as required by SOP’s;
• complies with Fire Department policy;
• performs in a professional manner to prevents damage, or unnecessary physical or financial loss to Fire Department equipment and materials;
• accepts responsibility for errors or personal shortcomings and is able to accept constructive criticism and correct downfalls;
• is familiar with KAF safety regulations, in particular, the safety regulations pertaining to the Fire Services and operations;
• participates in fire fighting and rescue operations by
o driving and operating fire fighting apparatus,
o removing personnel from an area of high risk to an area of relative safety,
o executing fire extinguishing procedures,
o providing Advanced First Aid and CPR to the injured,
o returning equipment to a state of normal stand-by readiness after every use, and
o maintaining fire fighting rescue tools (manual & power), maintain portable pumps;
• participates fire fighting training activities;
• maintains a physical fitness standard as required by Fire Services policy;
• participates in Fire Prevention and Life Safety inspections,
• conducts training for non-fire fighting personnel and various organized groups,
• conducts fire inspections;
• participates in the inspection, testing and maintenance of all fixed or portable extinguishing or detection systems, fire apparatus, and water distribution systems by
o assisting in the inspection, testing and maintenance of all fire suppression systems, fire detection systems, fire alarm systems, water distribution systems, and
o carrying out inspections, testing and maintenance of hand portable firefighting equipment, life safety equipment and fire fighting vehicles;
• maintains a high level of cooperation between peers, subordinates and supervisors;
• sets an example by maintaining a high standard with respect to dress, deportment, and communication;
• represents the Fire Services in a professional manner;
• resolves any problems by informing his supervisor of any problems using the proper chain of command;
• demonstrates initiative and utilizing time well, anticipating problems, and offering solutions; and
• uses effective time management to completing assignments on time or earlier.

This is demanding position requiring the incumbent to work in an environment of conditions varying between exceptionally hot and dusty to temperatures below freezing. The incumbent will be physically fit and able to work continuously in these extreme conditions.
