Summary:

The work schedule for this position is:



  • Full Time (40 number of hours per week)


Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

1. Repair government-owned appliances in all government and leased properties.
2. Install HVAC appliances as required.
3. Select appropriately sized (for specific capacity demands) HVAC units for specific projects.
4. Clean work areas.
5. Ensure that all appropriate safety demands are complied with as electrical or gas fired HVAC systems and appliances are dangerous and   life threatening if handled improperly.
6. Perform ancillary services as assigned pertinent to all general trades.
7. Interact professionally with housing occupants, landlords, vendors and outside contractors on a frequent basis.                                    8. Properly manage accounts for petty cash.                                                                                                                                        9. Purchase maintenance items through BPA arrangements.
10. Responsibly drive government-owned vehicles.
11. Serve as back-up to Maintenance Foremen.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  A minimum of three years of journeyman level experience in the residential or commercial HVAC/plumbing field. Incumbent has to perform to industry standards and requirements the day they start work (not an option).


JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Must have thorough knowledge of the organization. Full journeyman knowledge of HVAC equipment located in the work place and thorough knowledge of established standard trade practices and industry norms. Knowledge of industry standard lock out procedures. Knowledge of blue prints / schematics and standard industry symbols.

Education Requirements:

Mandatory: 



  • Incumbent must have minimum high school and specific training/certification in trade skills

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:  Mandatory:  English: Basic (This will be tested), Croatian: Fluent 


SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have comprehensive trade skills in the HVAC field; be able to use all related power tools, hand tools, measuring devices and meters pertinent to his/her trade. Must be able to weld with gas and machine weld. Must be able to lay out work. Must possess a valid local driving license. (B and C category).

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
