Gap Medics serves a very specific niche market: We provide placements for aspiring medical students aged 18-30 to give them a first-hand insight into the work of hospital doctors in exciting locations around the world.
Our dedication to providing well-organised placement and outstanding customer service in our own student guesthouses in every destination has been the foundation of tremendous growth – from our launch in 2010 to 5,000 students undertaking our placements in 2015.
Maintaining consistently high standards of service alongside this growth is a considerable challenge, and the reason we are seeking an exceptional new Housekeeper to join our team in Pula.
Your role as Housekeeper
You will take a very hands-on role in a small team that must pull together to deliver a wide range of services, often under considerable pressure.
Your time will be spent ensuring that the Gap Medics house is a safe, secure and comfortable place, where students can relax and interact with each other. This will be done by maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the house, and taking initiative to organise maintenance or repairs as the person responsible for the up-keep of the house.
The Housekeeper will also be responsible for budget and accounts preparation for all spending of housekeeping budgets.
Overall the housekeeper is directly responsible for all aspects of the house and social areas.
Other duties
Job sharing is an important aspect in a small team; therefore the Housekeeper will likely job-share with the Caterer (because both are based at the house and have peak work loads at different times).
The housekeeper plays an important role in student supervision, as a constant presence in the house during the day, it is important that you are a friendly and approachable person for the students to feel comfortable.

More than anything, we are looking for candidates with the personality, confidence and ambition to fit this role. We believe the right person for this role will have;
• Experience of Housekeeping for a large property, such as hotel or guesthouse;
• Very friendly personality;
• Reasonable (ideally fluent) spoken English;
• Careful and professional approach to handling budgets and accounting for spending;
• Trustworthy and loyal, with excellent references from previous employers.
• Salary will be discussed at interview stage and will depend on skills and experience
Lifestyle implications
The busiest time for the housekeeper is over the weekend, when students depart and new students arrive, therefore a willingness to work over the weekend is imperative. That is not to say you will work 7 days a week, your time off is likely to be midweek.
