General:
ESB International has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Team Leader to join our team in the mobilisation of a new, modern Power Plant based at Marsaxlokk, Malta.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to join the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Team as Shift Operations Team Leaders.

Role Description:
The Operations Team Leaders will be responsible for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the generating plant and associated auxiliaries, and for achieving the target commercial dispatch of the power plant in accordance with contractual obligations.

The Power Plant O&M Team will work flexibly and collaboratively together and with its contractors.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Duties will include, but are not be limited to, the following:
• Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all plant at site;
• Ensuring the safety of all personnel under his/her control ;
• Ensuring that the stipulated amount of required staff is attending the operations of the plant at all times. The Operations Team Leader shall take remedial action for any reported unforeseen or unauthorised absences;
• Direct the shift operations team in their day-to-day activities, assess training needs and manage individual performance plans;
• Liaise directly with grid dispatch centre;
• Liaise on dispatch programme with ElectroGas Malta (EGM) commercial manager;
• Participation on business improvement projects as required;
• As Senior Authorised Person, they will manage, administer and ensure compliance with the Station Safety Rules;
• Maintain a shift operations record (log) and submit operations reports as directed by the Operations Manager;
• Comply with safety and environmental obligations;
• Assist in the development and implementation of procedures and systems for plant operations, testing and related activities;
• Carry out plant trip incident analysis, investigation and reporting;
• Carry out initial front line maintenance;
• Use of Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) system for reporting plant defects;
• Attending and contributing to scheduled meetings;
• Training and developing staff as required;
• Attending and contributing to scheduled meetings;
• Liaise with other departments as required or directed;
• Project management as required;
• Carry out the role in management of safety, environment and quality as identified in the relevant ISO systems and processes.

Znanja i kvalifikacije:
Knowledge, Skills & Work Experience:
• Team Leaders should ideally be educated to a Bachelor’s degree level (MFQ Level 6) or equivalent, that is holding a Chartered Engineer Status, in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering;
• A good command of written and spoken English is essential;
• They will have a minimum of five (5) years operations experience in a thermal, OCGT and/or CCGT power plant, with three (3) recent years at supervisory level;
• Good ICT skills are desirable;
• Demonstrated ability in leading a customer focused team;
• Experience in project management and/or good planning skills will be advantageous;
• Experience in power plant operations, maintenance, technology, systems and procedures are desirable;
• In possession of a valid driving licence.
Person Profile: Successful candidates will have good interpersonal communication skills.
Successful candidates will be team players and self-starters with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Relationship:
Reporting to the Production Manager.

Working Arrangements:
The Operations Team Leader will lead a shift team of two Operations Technicians in a Production Team comprising five shift teams;
The Team will work a three-cycle shift arrangement averaging forty (40) hours per week over the year;
Flexibility to adopt a 12-hour shift arrangement from time-to-time will be required.

Training & Continuing Professional Development: As it is a newly built power plant a significant amount of training will be provided in the early stage of plant set-up. Whilst most training will be carried out at site or locally, there may be a requirement to attend some training at the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM’s) workshops or training centres where appropriate.
