O poslu

Opis radnog mjesta:
Founded in 2003, the Travel Foundation (TF) is an independent charity working with the travel industry towards a sustainable future. We do this by working with partners in destination countries on projects that benefit businesses, local communities, the environment and holidaymakers. Key learning is then turned into tools, training and business support to encourage industry-wide changes towards sustainable tourism.

Our head office is located at the Create Centre in Bristol, UK, and currently has a team of seventeen. In addition, we have a team of seven dedicated overseas consultants who lead projects in various destinations.

Since the end of 2015, TF has worked in two villages – Igrane and Zivogosce – located on the Makarska Riviera, Split-Dalmatia Coast, to improve the impacts that two newly refurbished hotels, operated by TUI, have on the local communities. TF’s aim is to enable the environment for hotels and communities to work together to ensure that the destination thrives through the practical implementation of sustainable tourism principles.

Based on initial research, four key interventions were recommended to achieve this:

1) Develop and support a framework to optimise communications and collaboration between hotels and the local community, as part of a commitment to responsible and sustainable destination management.

2) Engage and support local tourism businesses to meet hotel customer expectations by increasing knowledge on product development and market access opportunities.

3) Create opportunities for local unemployed youth to gain employment within the tourism sector

4) Improve marketing and promotion of local cultural and historical heritage (intangible and tangible) to hotel customers.

Based on the lessons learned, challenges encountered and methods used to overcome these, a model will be developed to inform hotel groups on good practice to integrate new / refurbished developments into local communities, and in so doing, develop positive relationships, improve customer experiences and ensure the sustainability of the destination.

The successful candidate will work closely with public and private sector stakeholders to implement activities that will contribute to achieving the programme aim.

The post holder will be required to carry out the following tasks, with guidance and input from the Destination Programmes Officer who manages the programme in the UK:

* Coordinate the day-to-day management of sustainable tourism project activities in the villages of Igrane and Zivogosce, in line with the work plans, aims and objectives identified in project frameworks designed by the Destination Programme Officer:

o Collect and submit to the Travel Foundation any relevant information relating to Croatian news, events, political decisions, economics or social issues, etc
