NATIONAL LEGAL OFFICER
BRIEF PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Within the framework of the IPA Regional Programme 2010, the Open Regional Fund for South East Europe - Legal Reform, GIZ in cooperation with CILC, is implementing the new Project: “Fight against organized crime and corruption- Strengthening the prosecutor network”.
Duration: June 1st 2012 – October 31st, 2013
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Continuously act for EU Member State Seconded Prosecutor as focal point of the project, responsible for regular daily contacts to USKOK and the Office of the State Prosecutor General of Republic of Croatia.
• Assist the EU Member State Seconded Prosecutor in the fulfillment of his duties, incl. interpreting/translating.
• Conduct research and provide legal advice on all issues related to the project work of the EU Member State Seconded Prosecutor, especially in the field of international judicial cooperation on cross-border organized crime and corruption.
• Draft memoranda, reports, summaries and other legal texts.
• Review and analyze legal documents.
• Maintain digital legal library.
• Communicate with (inter-)national organizations under responsibility of the EU Member State Seconded Prosecutor (e.g. with EUROJUST and European Judicial Network).
• Assist in national and regional trainings/ seminars.
• Report to the EU Member State Seconded Prosecutor in the Western Balkans Prosecutor’s Network (Republic of Croatia).
• Regularly perform other work-related duties as required (e.g. take minutes of meetings and other administrative business).

Znanja i kvalifikacije:
REQUIRED ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
• Citizenship of the Republic of Croatia.
• University degree in law in Croatia or qualified otherwise according to the regulations of the Republic of Croatia.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience (international legal cooperation). Previous work (monitoring) with an international organization or a prosecution office.
• Demonstrable analytical capacities.
• Good Knowledge of the applicable criminal law in Croatia.
• Excellent spoken and written command of English, including high-level drafting skills.
• Excellent spoken and written command of Croatian.
• Sound knowledge of police structures and the judiciary systems of Croatia.
• Computer literacy and ability to work with Windows applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and other).
• Ability to take initiative and to work effectively with minimum supervision and careful attention to details.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations as a team member in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Solid work ethics; punctuality; commitment to quality; careful attention to detail and nuance; ability to perform under stress; willingness to work flexible hours; precision; good multi-tasking and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage a high workload on occasions.
• Accept overtime work if required.
